What is a Light Bar?
A light bar is a warning device commonly used on police cars, gendarmerie vehicles, fire trucks, rescue vehicles, ambulances, funeral processions, escorts, road maintenance operations, and private security vehicles. Its purpose is to make these vehicles more noticeable in traffic.
The light bar is typically mounted on the roof of the vehicle to ensure it stays securely in place while in motion. It can be attached using screws or strong magnets. Depending on the requirements, light bars may feature only lighting functions, or they may also include sound functions.
LED Light Bars are the most commonly used today due to their stronger light output and longer lifespan.
Types of Light Bars
Roof lights are classified into several types, including:
- Long Light Bars
- Mini Light Bars
- Cylindrical Warning Lights
- Beacons
- Vertex Light Bars
Long Light Bars
These are installed on the front section of the vehicle's roof and vary in length based on the width of the vehicle, typically ranging from 110 cm to 145 cm. They are commonly used in police, fire department, rescue, ambulance, and funeral vehicles. They are available in 12V and 24V versions, depending on the vehicle type.
Mini Roof Lights
Smaller in size, ranging from 30 cm to 70 cm, mini roof lights can be used alone or in combination with long roof lights.
Cylindrical Warning Lights
Previously widely used in police, fire, and ambulance vehicles, these have now been largely replaced by long LED roof lights. Today, they are mainly used in road maintenance vehicles, garbage trucks, snow plows, and street sweeping vehicles.
Beacon & Vertex Lights
These cylindrical lights are magnetically mounted on the vehicle's roof. Beacon lights are powered through the cigarette lighter socket, while Vertex lights have a rechargeable battery and can operate for long periods without an external power source. Some models include a battery indicator.
Light Bar Prices
The price of roof lights depends on materials and manufacturing quality. While there are cheap imported options, public institutions and private sector users generally prefer locally manufactured products due to better after-sales service and durability. High-quality rescue and fire truck roof lights need to withstand continuous field use.
Siren & Announcement Systems
The siren function in roof lights uses siren-announcement devices, which can also operate independently. These systems offer various siren modes. During installation, the siren system can be connected to the roof light for synchronized operation.
